OBJETIVOS DE LA ORGANIZACIÓN
En asociación con el Forum de Narración Oral de Escocia, los objetivos son:
-Dar a cada niño escocés la experiencia de vivir la narración oral.
-Identificar, motivar y entrenar a narradores orales en cada comunidad.
-Apoyar al Centro de Narración Oral de Escocia como recurso e inspiración nacional e internacional.
-Permitir que las viejas tradiciones y valores tomen nuevas formas.
El Forum de Narración Oral de Escocia promueve el estudio, la práctica y el conocimiento de la narración oral en Escocia por medio de la preservación y perpetuación de la narración oral tradicional, también estimula el desarrollo de la narración oral como un arte contemporáneo que fomenta la destreza narrativa en grupos de todas las edades y la narración de historias en colegios, universidades, prisiones, centros comunitarios, iglesias, bibliotecas, hospitales, centros de la tercera edad y festivales por todo lo largo y ancho de Escocia.
El Forum actúa como un grupo de expertos que asesora acerca de todos los aspectos del desarrollo de la narración oral y defiende su causa y a los narradores en todos los ámbitos de la vida social y cultural.
ÁREAS ESPECÍFICAS DE LA NARRACIÓN ORAL EN LAS QUE SE INCIDE
Incidimos en las diferentes áreas de la narración oral, desde los espectáculos hasta su utilización en contextos que van desde el entretenimiento hasta su uso terapéutico, la educación ambiental y la inserción social. Utilizamos la narración oral con grupos de todas las edades, capacidades y culturas.

¿TRABAJA EN EL ÁREA DE FORMACIÓN DE NUEVOS NARRADORES? EN CASO AFIRMATIVO, ¿EXISTE ALGUNA ESCUELA DE NARRADORES VINCULADA A LA ASOCIACIÓN?
Tenemos un programa de estudios, que hace hincapié en el aprendizaje entre iguales, y organizamos talleres de varios niveles sobre temas diversos.
¿ORGANIZA LA ASOCIACIÓN ALGÚN FESTIVAL O CICLO DE NARRACIÓN ORAL? ¿CUÁL? ¿EN QUÉ FECHAS SE CELEBRA Y DÓNDE? EXPLICAR BREVEMENTE LAS CARACTERÍSTICAS BÁSICAS QUE DEFINEN AL FESTIVAL O CICLO.
Organizamos un festival anual, el Festival Internacional de Narración Oral de Escocia, a finales de octubre y que dura unos diez días. Cada año elegimos un tema y una región del mundo e invitamos a narradores de ese lugar. La mitad de los eventos tienen lugar en Edimburgo y la otra mitad en otros lugares de Escocia.
¿COLABORA ACTUALMENTE CON ALGUNA OTRA ASOCIACIÓN EUROPEA? ¿CUÁL ES SU LÍNEA DE TRABAJO EN COMÚN?
Actualmente no trabajamos en colaboración, pero recientemente lo hicimos con asociaciones europeas en el proyecto “Seeing Stories”:http://seeingstories.eu/
“Seeing Stories” tuvo como objetivo intensificar y comunicar creativamente la experiencia compartida de un lugar, conjugando dimensiones locales e internacionales para, de ese modo, incrementar el entendimiento mutuo y la promoción de la narración del paisaje europeo en un contexto cultural y económico contemporáneo.
¿CUÁL ES EL PERFIL DE LOS MIEMBROS QUE INTEGRAN LA ASOCIACIÓN: NARRADORES PROFESIONALES, NARRADORES ESPORÁDICOS, NARRADORES PRINCIPIANTES, PÚBLICO, INVESTIGADORES…? EN EL CASO DE TRATARSE DE UN PERFIL HETEROGÉNEO ESPECIFICAR DE QUÉ TIPO.
Están presentes profesionales de la narración oral y gente que usa la narración en su trabajo profesional como profesores, psicoterapeutas, bibliotecarios…

ORGANIZATION´S OBJECTIVES
In partnership with the Scottish Storytelling Centre and Network, the Forum aims to:
- give every child in Scotland the experience of live storytelling
- recognise, encourage and train storytellers in every community
- sustain the Scottish Storytelling Centre as a national and international resource and inspiration
- enable old traditions and values to flourish in new ways
The Scottish Storytelling Forum promotes the study, practice and knowledge of storytelling in Scotland through the preservation and perpetuation of traditional storytelling and the development of storytelling as a contemporary art through the fostering of storytelling skills among all age groups, and the telling of stories in schools, colleges, prisons, community centres, churches and faith communities, libraries, hospitals, elderly care centres and festivals, throughout Scotland.
The Forum acts as a think-tank, advising on all aspects of storytelling development, and advocating the cause of storytelling and storytellers in all aspects of cultural and social life.
STORYTELLING AREAS APPROACHED
We address the full range of areas of storytelling from performance to applied storytelling in contexts that range from entertainment to using storytelling for therapeutic purposes, environmental education, and for social inclusion. We use storytelling with all age groups, abilities and cultures.

DOES THE ORGANIZATION FORM NEW STORYTELLERS? IF YES, IS THERE A SCHOOL VINCULATED TO YOUR ORGANIZATION?
We have an apprenticeship programme, which emphasizes peer learning, and we run a series of workshops for various levels of storytelling and a on a range of topics over the year.
DO YOU ORGANISE ANY FESTIVALS OR STORYTELLING EVENT? NAME IT. DATES. SHORTLY EXPLAIN THE BASIC ASPECTS OF THE FESTIVAL OR EVENT.
We run an annual festival, The Scottish International Storytelling Festival, over 10 days at the end of October every year. Each year we have a theme and a particular region of the world, from which we invite guest storytellers. Half of the events take place in Edinburgh, the other half take place in elsewhere in Scotland.
DO YOU COLLABORATE WITH ANY OTHER EUROPEAN ORGANIZATION? WHAT COMMON OBJECTIVES ARE THERE FOR THE COLLABORATION?
We are not currently working in partnership but most recently worked with European partners on the ‘Seeing Stories’ projecthttp://seeingstories.eu/
'Seeing Stories' aimed to enhance and creatively communicate a shared experience of place, by bringing together local and international dimensions, so increasing mutual understanding and promotion of European landscape narrative in contemporary cultural and economic contexts.

We represent professional storytellers, applied storytellers and people who use storytelling in their professional work (such as teachers, psychotherapists, librarians etc.).
