OBJETIVOS DE LA ASOCIACIÓN
Beyond the Border existe para crear, estimular y promocionar la narración oral tradicional para público contemporáneo.
Nuestro sueño es “traer el mundo a Gales y llevar Gales al mundo”. Nuestro festival internacional de narración oral, de carácter bianual, es la piedra angular de nuestro trabajo, y a esto le sumamos el hecho de que organizamos eventos y proyectos durante todo el año con el fin de crear audiencia para la narración oral y de dar a conocer su poder para entretener, transformar y comunicar las vidas de la gente.
ÁREAS ESPECÍFICAS DE LA NARRACIÓN ORAL EN LAS QUE SE INCIDE
Contar cuentos de tradición oral de todo el mundo.
Narrar historias en el contexto de la salud y el bienestar.
La narración oral en la educación.
La narración oral como medio de aprender una segunda lengua para las minorías étnicas (particularmente entre refugiados y solicitantes de asilo).
La narración oral y la inserción social (lo que incluye el relato de historias personales).
La narración oral y el recuerdo enfocado para ancianos.

Beyond the Border no es una organización con miembros sino una compañía limitada y una asociación cultural que promueve eventos de narración oral y actividades para el público en general.
¿TRABAJA EN EL ÁREA DE FORMACIÓN DE NUEVOS NARRADORES? EN CASO AFIRMATIVO, ¿EXISTE ALGUNA ESCUELA DE NARRADORES VINCULADA A LA ASOCIACIÓN?
Sí, pero no una escuela con enseñanza regular. Organizamos una escuela de verano de tres a cuatro días cada dos años, durante el festival.

El Festival de Narración Oral de Gales Beyond The Border (Más Allá de las Fronteras) tiene lugar cada dos años durante el primer fin de semana de Julio. El festival dura tres días y celebra las tradiciones orales del mundo, desde los grandes mitos hasta chistes cortos y aspira a llevar excelentes sesiones de cuentos para todas las edades, desde bebés hasta ancianos.
Beyond The Border también fomenta la realización de sesiones de cuentos durante todo el año, particularmente para adultos, en diferentes lugares por todo Gales.
¿COLABORA ACTUALMENTE CON ALGUNA OTRA ASOCIACIÓN EUROPEA?
El festival ha colaborado con el Club Crick Crack (Inglaterra) y Raccontamiunastoria (Italia) y también está muy unido con Mythos (Grecia) y Fabula (Suecia). En 2011 y 2012 formó parte de un exitoso proyecto europeo financiado, junto con Raccontamiunastoria, Mythos, Fabula y Grupa Studnia O (Polonia) .
¿CUÁL ES SU LÍNEA DE TRABAJO EN COMÚN?
El fomento de sesiones de narración oral de alta calidad. Interés en proyectos interculturales y en el uso de idiomas en la narración de historias. Creemos en la necesidad de que las naciones europeas hablen y trabajen juntas de manera creativa

Narración oral con refugiados.
Narración oral entre jóvenes pertenecientes a comunidades urbanas marginales en Gales.
Estimular el desarrollo de nuevos narradores orales en Gales.
Crear una beca para una narradoras semi-profesionales que trabajen en inglés y galés.
Desarrollo de audiencias entre comunidades del sur de Asia en el sur de Gales.
Crear programas de narración oral para niños sordos en Gales.
Trabajar con otras organizaciones nacionales de Gales para instituir el año 2017 como Año de las Leyendas en Gales.

Beyond The Border está siempre atento a estrechar lazos con otros festivales internacionales en Europa y más allá, y se siente feliz de escuchar y aprender de asociaciones que comparten nuestros ideales. Esta idea de un mapa que nos permita conocer qué hacemos es excelente.

ORGANIZATION´S OBJECTIVES
Beyond the Border exists to create, encourage and promote traditional storytelling for contemporary audiences.
Our vision is to 'bring the world to Wales, and take Wales to the world'. Our biennial international festival of storytelling is the cornerstone of our work, and in addition we run events and projects year-round to build audiences for storytelling and to communicate its power to entertain, transform and inform people’s lives.
STORYTELLING AREAS APPROACHED
Re-telling of Traditional Tales from around the world,
Stories in the context of Health and Well Being,
Storytelling in Education,
Storytelling as a medium for second Language learning for ethnic minorities (particularly among refugees and asylum seekers),
Storytelling and social inclusion (including the telling of personal stories),

Beyond The Border is not a Membership Organisation. It is a limited Company and registered charity which promotes storytelling events and activities for the general public.
DOES THE ORGANIZATION FORM NEW STORYTELLERS? IF YES, IS THERE A SCHOOL VINCULATED TO YOUR ORGANIZATION?
Yes, but no regular school; we run a Summer School for 3-4 days every two years at the time of the festival.

Beyond The Border Wales International Storytelling Festival takes place every two years during the first weekend of July. The festival is a three-day celebration of the world’s oral traditions, from performances of the great myths to one-line jokes, and aims to provide excellent storytelling for all ages, from the youngest children to the oldest adults.
Beyond The Border also regularly promotes performances of storytelling throughout the year, particularly for adults, in various different venues around Wales.
DO YOU COLLABORATE WITH ANY OTHER EUROPEAN ORGANIZATION?
BtB has regularly collaborated with the Crick Crack Club (England) and Raccontamiunastoria (Italy) and also enjoys close links with Mythos (Greece) and Fabula (Sweden). In 2011/2012 BtB was a partner in a successful European funded project with Raccontamiunastoria, Mythos, Fabula and Grupa Studnia O (Poland)

Promotion of high quality performance of traditional stories, interest in cross-cultural projects and use of language in performance, belief in the need for the nations of Europe to talk and work creatively together…
WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON NOWADAYS?
Many!
Storytelling with Refugees;
Storytelling among young people in disadvantaged urban communities in S Wales;
Encouraging development of younger storytellers in Wales;
Creating bursary to allow mentoring of a young female semi-professional storyteller working in both English and Welsh;
Developing audiences for storytelling among South Asian communities in South Wales; creating programmes of storytelling for deaf children in Wales;
Working with other national organizations across Wales to establish 2017 as Wales Year of Legends.

BtB is always looking to strengthen links with other international festivals, both within Europe and beyond, and happy to hear and learn from any potential partners who share our ideals. This idea of a map letting us know who does what is excellent.
